Turmeric contains curcumin, which has power anti-inflammatory effects. Given curcumin is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream, it is recommended to add a fat to turmeric, such as coconut milk, to aid in absorption.
Fruit and spice come alive in this healthy but rich coconut smoothie.
- 3 ounces of fresh pineapple
- 4 ounces of mango
- 1 orange peel strip
- 2 inch piece of turmeric root or ¼ tsp of ground turmeric
- 1/8 tsp of cracked pepper
- ¼ tsp cardamom seeds, toasted
- 4-6 ice cubes
- 1 tsp chia seeds
Put all of the ingredients, except chia seeds, blend until smooth. Poor in glass and sprinkle chi seeds on top before serving. Enjoy.
